IF you want to deal with a 10 year old underperforming platform be my guess. It's your dime and your dance floor.
The LTW's ran high 13's -- but there were only 100 of them in the US -- most of which are now garage queens. Buying one would cost 40-50k still. Normal E36 M3's ran 14 second quarter miles -- which is an attainable goal.

If you're not going to buy the E46 M3 for 32k i'd love to have the seller's contact info -- if it's nice I could turn around and sell it here for $4k-$5k more. My guess is that if a dealer is listing it for that price then it's been beat on pretty hard or has some mechanical problems. The early E46's had some big problems with the rod bearings breaking and the motors blowing ..

It seems like you're really disappointed in your car's performance -- would you suggest against buying one?
