Great description GDC-SRT. As you can see it is quit the system.

Only thing I would add is:

1. Your skeem can accept up to 8 different keys.
2. SKEEM comes from the factory with the Vin encoded. I know this because the first one I received had to be sent back because it had the wrong VIN.

So I assume that if I take a SKEEM module from one car and put it in another car it will not work.

3. It would be interesting to know if the MB system can program the SKEEM's correct VIN without going to Chrysler.

When I was having problems with my panic button, I did get to listen in on a conversation with the Chrysler engineer (Person who was the orginal Chrysler person on the Xfire electrical system.) who was talking with a German engineer at Garmin (sp) so we could translate the problem/fix to our tech locally. Needless to say it was a super conversation. He was retired and was brought back as a consultant on the Xfire. He was very impressed with the German technolgy and I got the impression that Chrysler was waiting for the last Xfire warranty to expire to have a party. In my mind, Chrysler simply does not have the capabilty like Mercedes has to support their cars.

You may find this amazing. I had a A service done on my 2007 C350 4Matic at 24,000 miles. The next service is a B service at 36,000. That is 12,000 miles on the oil and filter and that is their warranty service. They only use Mobil 0-40 and fleece filters for that reason. Just checked yesterday and computer says 9000 till next service. I get to wondering so I do the oil and filter at 6000 miles between services by Mercedes. Old habits die hard.
