Default Re: Clunking noise on downshift. Also LOUD rumbling noise on certain roads

I will put my CF on a lift. Will let you know as soon as I find somthing out. That's a mess. Did you run your car hard. Or was this done from repeated track runs. Even so I'm not very impressed with the CF differential if this is the best it can do.
I had a 91 Miata set up with a stage 3 turbo from flying Miata and many, many engine modifications. The Miata engine I used had 50k on it when swapped. My best 1/4 mile time was in the low 11's. It was a monster. The tranny was bone stock. Except for the clutch their were no modifications. This was also my daily driver. I drove this car hard for 2 years with out anything happening to the differential (stock) or the tranny. For that matter no problems with anything.
If this turns out to be the problem I am going to sell my Limited. With only 35k and babied miles this is unacceptable. Considering MB built this and Chrysler sold this car for 40k+ I would expect a hell of a lot more. This car had 3k on it when I bought it, and it was mint.
My 98 M3 had 200k when I sold it and never had any major problems. My original Miata engine was replaced at 180k in great condition. The only reason I swapped it was for the hi-performance rebuild with a lower mileage engine.
I love the design and mechanics of the Crossfire and will be truly dissappointed if this turns out to be a costly major problem at this low mileage. The money will come out of my pocket.
