Dude I so did this and it's working! This works better for me for a few reasons.

1. It eliminates the "lathed" down pulley or running on the back side of a pulley.
2. With my setup the belt/tensioner was nearly at it's tightest position. This is more comfortable.
3. Provides enough belt wrap so that I haven't noticed any belt slip (yet).

I spent time behind the Autozone counter and could not find a suitable smooth pulley but this works so I don't need the pulley!
