Funny you should write this about the gas cap. First time I filled the Xfire, I had the same thought. I bought a Rubber bib from Griot's garage. It fits perfectly in the gas filler area. I roll it out and that stop any damage. You still have to be careful. I think I payed about $10 for it. It works great.
