I hit an Elk in southern British Columbia,back in 85 I was driving a 1 ton F350 ford flat bed,it just bounced off the hill onto the hood and vanished. It punched a hole in the radiator that I couldnt plug, ( minus 35 c) I drove 400 miles back to Edmonton and used 35 galons of water to keep the motor cool

. When I got back to the shop it took 2 days to defrost the hood and firewall, $3500 for repairs and I still have a small collecton of hollow Elk hairs. The town where I hit the Elk, in the Ford is called
