Actually the louvers craze started in the mid 60's with the Lamborghini Miura (66-72) I believe. Then the Boss 302 Mustang in 69.
Probably 30 or 40% of all the 1st. edition Datsun Z cars used em. Chrysler even offered them on the 70's Cuda and Challenger, later on the Volare' Road Runner.
In the late 70's AMC used them on the 77 Hornet AMX, 78 Concord AMX, and in 79 and 80 on the Spirit AMX.
As far as I know, I don't think GM ever offered louvers (from the factory) for the Trans Am though.
I'm sure Tony (Acrispy1) can verify.
