Well I am mad at the unions, we have a Chrysler plant down the road not 10 miles from here and they get overpaid, three times what they would be lucky to get outside the plant gates, $36 + an hour plus benefits for old workers less for new hires.
But the companies kept upping the wages to keep them on the job as they could not bite the bullet and break the unions, one year on the picket line would have broken the unions. The Big Three would not do it and we see the results. Margaret Thatcher busted many of the unions in the UK, and the UK would have been worse of if she hadn't.
Twenty miles north and we have a Honda plant expanding while others are collapsing, the wages and benefits are not so high and the product is what people want so they grow.
