Re: Greetings, SRT6 Owners... I'm intrigued with your cars.
I don't do a 100 mile comute, but I do cover about 80 miles per day driving
to and from work. I make this drive at least 3 times a week (get to work out
of the home office other days) and I like the stiffer ride. There are a
lot of cars with a better ride, but not many with a better ride that give as
much fun as as the SRT-6, at the current price point.
I get around 23mpg, when I can keep my foot out of it, but the bite at the
pump is not too bad. Off warranty service could be a bugger, but you can
get a 100,000 mile extended warranty that covers nearly everything (If it
moves, it is covered) at a fairly reasonable price.
I have been driving this car now for 5 years (purchased new in Oct. '04)
and I have over 77K miles on the clock. Car is still running great, and
should be even more fun when I get the Eurocharged tune early next
month. Sure, there have been a few mechanical problems... IC pump (x2),
tranny leak (covered by TSB), Crankshaft sensor issue and a broken motor
mount. These have been not happy times, but they were over quickly
and covered by warranty.
Now, my wife is not a fan of the Crossfire. Took her to the Dragon one
and she was getting so nauseous I had to back off and find a place to
stop for a while. She even gets that feeling while driving the car. Which
she can do anytime she wishes, so long as she doesn't leave the garage.
Seriously, tough, I love this car, and when I wear out the motor, I think
I'll drop a new one in.
Can you find a better car? Sure, but not at this price (nor at the price
I paid when I drove mine off the show room floor). Good luck.
