The work AMG performs on these engines is more than just throwing on a s/c. They also use heavier duty racing components. The exhaust is larger; it has a stiffer suspension. Hence the R in SRT and the $10k original premium. One of the members is selling his modded SRT6 for under $18k on this forum -- great deal and not much more than a n/a coupe. As noted, a $15k n/a + $5k in upgrades still does not get you a stock SRT6 which cost $18-20k these days.
See i have a n/a right now that I paid 17,000 for back in March. I couldnt sell it for more that 11,000 now and it would take me time to get the extra 5,000, it makes more sense to me to keep what I have and mod it. Insurance on the srt would be more, it gets worst gas mileage. Those cost money that i just dont have right now. If i can make mine faster and still keep the insurance the same then I will be doing good. And even as it is my 6 speed is fast enough. Much faster than 215 hp says. I just want more
