My wife's '66 Mustang is sitting in my garage, it's sat there for thirty three years, and my son intends to " just drop in" a V8, now that's do-able. Dropping a SRT-6 engine into the Xfire is do-able, getting it to run is another story.
I'll repeat what others have said many many times before, if you want a SRT-6 go out and buy one. Save yourself a lot of hassle and money.
Any way I think six or eight cylinders is kinda poky, what I have in mind is at least ten cylinders maybe twelve. I've got my eyes on a nice ........
