Hobbymanbill, you are incorrect (notice I said that without insulting anyone? You should try that). Aside from getting all caught up in the semantics of "porting" vs "casting", many engines are made from modular engine blocks which can be used as V6s or V8's. This was the idea behind Ford's Modular Engine program, and is the reason why displacement on demand (such as the V8 converting to a V4 on the 300C/Magnum) technology is feasible.
