As in decking, align boring ( making the holes straight and square to the crank ) etc. Intake manifolds for 6's and 8's are different sizes same as the blocks, they are also cast, and then machined. You can all call me all the names you want, but one or two of you ought to reach down and pull your head out of that warm dark place that makes you think you know what you're talking about and go learn something about engines. Saskins when you learn to do anything that makes sense (including how to SPELL) some of us might pay attention to you, otherwise you just sound like a kid. A not very bright kid. By the way the v8 to v4 means only 4 cylinders are firing when demand for power goes down, it doesn't mean you turn a v8 into a v4. I'm not going anywhere, maybe you should all grow up and try to learn something. If you don't like it when I call you on something, maybe you'll learn to find out if what you're saying is true or not.
I'm glad you put such an emphasis on being correct, hobbyman

I too think it's important to be correct. One should always do their research before claiming to know something, yes? I feel that way, and I'm glad you do too. Accuracy is SOOO important in life.

If you go to Ford's website, you can read about how Ford's V-Mod program works - The V-mod engine block (and I am only talking about the block) is not casted in a V-6 configuration - rather, they are casted in banks of two cylinders - a V-twin more or less. The cylinder banks are then powder cintered (I may be spelling that wrong, but considering you will be rude one way or the other, I'm not going to take the time to look the spelling up) together to make a V-6 or V-8 (or feasibly even a V-4). What you are speaking of is not an aspect of Ford's Engine Mod program - you are simply talking about increasing the displacement within a single V-8 block - what most of us would call 'boring and stroking'. The entire premise of the V-mod engine program was to create an engine block that could be expanded from 6 to 8 to 10 cylinders while using the same heads, cranks, etc in order to cut costs. If you remember, the first concept version of the Ford GT did not use a supercharged 4.6V8 - it used a 6.0 V10 from the V-mod program, which was going to be Ford's flagship engine that would go in all of their cars using 6 cylinders and up. I do not claim to know as much about cars as everyone, or even most people on this forum - however, I do read before opening my mouth and spouting off to everyone how dumb everyone else is, in the hope I don't appear to be an ignorant moron (I am aware you may think of me as an ignorant moron, but I take that as a form of compliment - much like Galileo must have felt when the Church called him a childish imbecile for declaring the earth revolved around the sun).
