Direct injection isn't going to happen to our engines. What direct injection is when fuel is sprayed directly into the combustion chamber under a lot higher pressure to aid in atomization. Common fuel injection is when fuel is sprayed into the intake manifold, or near the vavles before the combustion chamber.
To have direct inject you'd need to rework the head to allow for the valves, fuel injector, and the spark plug
