Re: The endless pursuit of the perfect intake…
I installed the SL55 over two years ago after reading a write up from a member on one of the MB Boards. ATthe time no one had installed the SL55 on a SRT6 (or at least wrote it up on the forum)
so I took the chance.
At first a few members made some comments - but I liked the idea of installing authentic AMG V8 components on my engine for around $300. Plus it retained the dual intake.
The before and after dyno results showed fantastic gains and soon I installed the 185mm pulley and got a dyno tune and the SL55 intake back it all up and I've never looked back.
Had the Dual NW been available back then - I probably would have purchased a set.. Even more so now that they run with the larger filters. But I also like the fact that with the SL55 setup my radiator receives full unrestricted airflow and with the SO CAL weather, that turns out to be a plus.
The only other mod to my SL55 setup has been a set of K&N filters (that stay remarkably clean) and paint and clear coat to the airboxes.
