Introduction & Thanks
Hey guys, I was looking for a play car for over a year and then discovered the SRT6. This forum provided me the necessary information to assist in my decision and as such, I purchased my SRT6 in April of last year and have absolutely enjoyed it with no regrets. I am located in Louisiana and wanted to introduce myself as I have been reading posts on this site for some time – learning!
Since the purchase I have installed a NW CAI, Code3 pulley, chrome turn signal bulbs, and painted the brake calipers (red) all due to the wealth of information on this site. Soon to be completed mods are a tune, CTD Germany clear side markers, and ceramic brake pads (still trying to determine which ones). I am still reading trying to understand the cooling mods - H/E, supercooler, IC Pump, and thermostat and how they all work together and where to begin.
Now for the good stuff:
First time ever racing at the drag strip, my best time was a 13.1 at 108mph with just the CAI installed. Let’s just say I can improve my launch off of the line. Since then I learned about the sc having a clutch and if I power brake at 1800 rpm it should improve my launch. I go back to the drag strip this month to see if I can improve.
First time ever at a road course I caught and passed a Porsche GT3 and a later model corvette Z06 with just the CAI installed. GT3 guy would not even talk to me afterwards. I could reach 140mph on the straightaway before having to brake for the first turn – awesome!
At both events, as mentioned in the “buyers remorse” post, no one gave me the time of day until after they saw the performance of this car. It was a great feeling! Sleeper car all the way.
Thanks to all of you for your assistance in making this happen even though you did not know it.
It has been great so far. Also, I am glad that I purchased a graphite gray coupe as everyone agrees that it is the coolest and fastest color to have.
