Default How To Get Results!!

PLEASE MAKE THIS A STICKY:

This forum is great for self help and helping others, but sometimes when all else fails declare war!!!!
In cases of defective seat heaters, clouded headlights and other common faults, the forum may give good advice to do it yourselfers, but the following is how I made my headlights problem a personal David and Goliath battle.Rather long winded but necesary to explain how I finally got my results. Stand up for your rights....

CLOUDED HEADLIGHTS?

Bad customer relations: Chrysler Motors, Bloomfield Hills Michigan
District Parts and Repair Director San Antonio, TX, Jack Brink.
Indirectly Crenwelge Motors, 310 Main St, Kerrville, TX 78028

I guess by now you’ve all gotten tired of headlight stories. Here’s one with a happy ending, although a long battle getting it done.

My Crossfire, Build # 36827, built Jun 2004, was a “DOCK QUEEN” until put in service 18 August, 2006. This became the effective date of the new Car warranty thru 17 August, 2009.
I purchased the car 11 April, 2008 with 16 months factory warranty remaining. The headlights were already somewhat clouded and I told the salesman I wanted them fixed. He said ok, shell be ready tomorrow. I picked the car up the next day and the headlights looked good.
After a month or so, the cloudiness reappeared, so I guess the fix was temporary. NOT TO WORRY SAY I still under warranty. Against my instincts I went to Crenwelge Motors, about 5 minutes from home. I talked to the Service manager Stxxx, and showed him the lenses. He shook his head and said John they are not covered. OH YEAH? Say I, who needs to approve this. He said the District Director of Parts and Repair. OK, where do I find him?
He said you don’t, he only sees the Dealerships. OH YEAH?? I want his denial. Stxxx looked in his schedule book and said he’s coming I tomorrow I’ll tell him. I said I’ll be here and I’ll SHOW him.
Anyway Jack Brink and I did not meet but I was told he disapproved the replacement. I told Stxxx I was callng Bloomfield in the AM for his info. I called Bloomfield and was told if Jack Brink said no, it’s NO. I continued to badger the dealer Tim Crenwelge and finally Tim said Jack agreed to split the cost with me 50/50. Would I go for that. I thought about it and agreed. They ordered the parts. Going home I thougt more and more about the crappy deal, this was stil going to cost me$600.00 out of pocket. I said to my self, Self, NO WAY!!
I then sat at the PC and composed a letter to the State Attorney General’s office of Consumer Affairs. I printed off several copies and the next afternoon I went to see Tim. I was polite and told him I know it’s out of your hands, but in all fairness to you I want to give you this copy of a letter I have written. You may tell Jack Brink that if I do NOT get warranty replacement of the headlights approved by Monday morning (this was Thurs), this will be mailed to the AGO and all of the San Antonio and local media outlets. He said give me a day. OK. I left to do stuff, and later when got home was told I was to call Tim.
I called him, and he said he got hold of Jack and told him, ”this guy’s going public, we don’t need any more bad pub now”. Tim said “Jack folded”, you’ll get your lights.
Moral is: Check you’re IN SERVICE DATE and don’t take NO for an answer.
