Just today the car started squeaking while I was braking, does this mean I need to replace the pads? I took off the tire and looked and I think it still has the original pads on it, and the car is approaching 60k miles. I drive it pretty hard as well with lots of high speed driving and some braking in there. Should I swap them out? Also, I can't tell which wheel(s) is squeaking, but I'm assuming the fronts because those do all of the work.
Only reason I wonder is I haven't seen anything on the dash telling me the brakes are low. But I don't know how low they have to be before that comes on.
Autozone here has rotex golds in stock, so if you guys say I need them I'm going to go pick them up.
Oh, can I replace them myself or do I need to go somewhere to do it for me? I can swap the pads fine, but can't do much past that, so would I need to bring it to a shop so they can do something to the rotors?
