Default Re: Trading in the SRT-6

Hey Philly- really sorry to see you go bro. I don't know if you remember but I was eyeing up the same car (the one you bought) from Carsense. I ended up buying a similar car (same color) from a dealership in Moorestown NJ (near Cherry Hill).

I can't lie by saying the thought crossed my mind about trading the SRT6 in. After all my track record in the past 10 years hasn't been very good for keeping a car more than a year or two. However what keeps putting me back in perspective is the sheer performance/price. I'm not sure what you paid for yours (I paid 19k with 12k on the odo) and that is a huge performance bargain. There is simply nothing else out there that touches it.

Granted, due to the fact that my SRT6 IS a daily driver (wife drives the Flex) there are some days I wish I had a hatchback version of the STi. Another thing I really miss is a sports car with manual transmission. I'm surprised less people mention that- that's one of the biggest things I miss.

I know this won't help if you have your heart set on a new vehicle (trust me I know from experience) but the best course of action would be to keep the SRT6 and pick up a beater. Heck for the money you'll be putting out in negative equity you could buy a Chrysler PT GT. I know it doesn't look very good but they are good for an easy mid 14 (ie spank most hondas with folger's can mufflers) and only cost you like 5k to own (plus it has 4 doors and tons of storage).

PS Dude if this was like 8-9 months ago I would consider buying your car for 13k privately with the paint problems and all. Speaking of which, your car probably had existing damage (if not lot damage). Dealers are scumbags- they hire cheap on-site guys to come and "touch up" stuff like that. I know because I had an S2000 with paint problems caused from this. It was a nightmare getting it sorted out. By the time I traded the car it still wasn't satisfactory to me (the panels didn't quite match perfectly- apparently that shade of yellow was difficult to match to OEM).
