Re: key fob replacement ideas
The theft deterrent system in the Crossfire uses an RFID chip, unlike the resister in the GM VATS system. There is a small RFID chip in your key fob which must be very close to a circular antena in the ignition switch in order to allow the car to run. I have not tried this - and would not try to disable the anti-theft system on my own car - but, if you fix the RFID chip from one of your key fobs very near the ignition it would likely allow a plain laser cut key to start and run the car. Two words of caution: 1) The Crossfire is a very nice car and would be easier to steal if you do this. 2) If you use a key in a key fob that has not had the RFID removed, the two RFIDs might interfer with each other so that the second key would not work until its RFID chip is removed also.
