I emailed my VIN to the dealer (Ontario JCD, Ontario, CA.) service manager (Kirk Irvine). Other dealerships may require proof of ownership as well. The Mercedes key operation is outta Fort Worth, TX. (I believe). Cost was approx $175.00. It comes programmed to your VIN/ECU. You'll only need to program the remote entry as outlined here on the forum.
