A variation on a bikers trick.

I had a minivan with a sunroof. The ridges in the roof top would guide nylon ball bearings right off the back of the tailgate.
Somebody stayed too close, too long, had no idea where the loud sound came from when it hit their hood, or their windshield.
But, they backed off.

Drastic action but it should teach the youg'uns
don't mess with old guys.
