I always keep the calipers on and brush paint 2 or 3 coats with engine paint. Dont forget to clean it good and put a base coat of bbq black down first, it REALLY helps it work. I did my xf 2 years ago and they still look good. Cleaning isnt a problem and they clean up nice. Occasionally a little touch up but no pealing or flaking.

BTW. Ive done this method since 1997 and the only time it went bad was when I didnt use bbq black as a primer
