ahhhh..... nothing like a good doppelbock. When I would visit Bavaria, that was always the beer of choice for me. We always called it monk beer, as it is brewed by monks in the local monestaries. It is funny, becase most of the monestaries in Bavaria have very steep and long flights of stairs to get up to the monestary. I always imagined the monks getting drunk in town on doppelbock and having to climb all those stairs to get home. LOL The Bavarian versions generally start at over 10% alcohol by volume and I have seen them up to 16%. Now those will knock you back on your seat. haha!
