I put one in when the car was new. When looking in from the outside it does not look like a security cover. It looks like a solid deck. If you didn't know that there is a deep well underneath the cover (and who knows besides us) you wouldn't guess. I don't use it much but I am glad I got one. I like it better than leaving luggage and what not visible when I take trips.
