My mom's Volvo wagon was broken into when the thieves spotted two shopping bags in back. Sadly the bags contained trash.
BTW, I use my cover all the time and there's no way a Crossfire cargo cover is going to become "dislodged" It's built like a tank and bolted in place, not sitting in a groove like on your grand jerky.

To add to what you said another big disadvantage is that these covers often come dislodged during an accident become just one more thing to smack you in the head. The first thing I did when I bought my Grand Cherokee a few years ago was take out the cargo cover.
