You can pick up a pair of mich. pilot a/s tires with a 400 treadwear rating or a set of the a/s plus with a 500 treadwear rating and tire rack tested them against the regular pilot sports and found them to be roughly 99% of the performance with 2 or 3 times the wear.

I noticed a set on ebay in 285/30/19 brand new for $350 the other day. That is basically 1/2 price.
