Bigger Rims, Stock look.
I've been giving some thought of late to the wheels on my SRT-6. I have
the stock wheels and though they can be a pain to clean, I'd really like to
keep that look. On the other hand, I'd like to have a set of rims are just a
little bit wider (front and back) yet still keep the tire's proper position on
the inside edge. I.e. all the "growth" in tire size would show up by the tire
extending to or beyond the wheel wells, but not by getting closer to the
framing on the inside edge.
So, I've looked at a lot of rims lately, on several differnt web sites, and I've
seen some that look good, but don't have the stock "look". I was thinking
that it would be possible to take one of each rim (front and back) to a shop
that has the tooling to be able to create a rim that looks the same, yet has
more "lip" and is wider. Fronts at at least 9" and backs at least 10. Maybe
9.5" and 10.5/11.0" for the back. Something cut from blocks of aluminum or aluminum alloy. I'd really like to put some 315's on the back to try to get
the traction problem under control and wider tires up front to try to
manage some of the understeer.
Problem is, I don't have a clue as to where I should go for such a thing, nor
what I could expect to pay. So, before I delve too deeply in to this
option, I thought I'd ask here for advice.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Coyote
