Hot rodders called them "Lake Pipes" I had them on a '56 Mercury. You weld a pipe to your existing header pipe on each side terminating just behind your front tire (or in front of your rear tire) the end of the pipe needs a flange welded on it, you bolt a chrome cap with a gasket on the flange. When your at the track you unbolt the caps and the exhaust takes the path of least resistance. You keep your stock system and don't have to buy the electric (or manual) bypass valves.
