When you say nothing happens I expect you are saying the engine does not turn over "rotate" and there is no clicking noises. If you have an automatic transmission it's possilbe the Park/Neutral switch is broken or not fully engaged. Try shifting into park a couple of times. I would next look at the starter solenoid and starter.
