I assume its a security feature for the DVD player. Did u have to remove the entire center console to do this? Also Ive been reading that the factory wiring has the red and yellow wires switched, but it appears that once the Metra harness is installed the color of the wires are switched back. So shouldn't I still connect red to red and yellow to yellow? lastly, do you have an mp3 player. where did u put it and how did u run the cables? Sorry if I sound silly, but I am a total A/V new jack.
To get to the e-brake connection you need to get the console out of the way. I just installed a switch on the console so I could flip the switch instead of take the console out and wire to the e-brake. I also had other reasons for doing that (enable features while car is moving).
I tested the red and yellow with a circuit tester to determine which was which and wired the correct ones to the connector. Yellow is Battery and Red is switched. IN the car they might be swapped.
My iPod is in the console - I hid the cable under it without removing the console - just slid it up under the edge and brought it up behind the back seat and down into the console through the cover.
My USB and 3.5mm stereo plug connections are stored in the little web catch-all on the transmission tunnel for guests or the occasional USB drive...
