You don't have to remove the carpet there is about a 3 inch section at the rear\bottom that is made to be pulled back just for this reason. Just pull it up\back and it will reveal two nuts that have to be removed. On a manual car pop up that plastic piece that surrounds the shifter from the rear of it and you will be able to remove the two phillips screws, don't worry you won't break it. The hardest part of the operation is removing the rubber handle cover of the parking brake. Different people use different things to help such as wd 40, soap etc. whatever works for you. Whatever you use there will be some armstronging involved as it is only held on by friction it just needs to come straight off. After that you should be able to remove the console section by just moving it around. There will still be a wire or two but don't worry about them just lay the console over on a towel, for scratch prevention being careful not to pull on the wires too much. Then take the cupholder out, it has 4 small torx screws. The bin can be slid in after you put everything back together.
