Sorry to hear about the accident. A couple unfortunate points I need to make though:

1) State of Texas states that any car/driver that rear-ends another car is at fault. It is the way the state works.

2) Having been through my own Crossfire accident I can look at that and tell you that there is a 95% chance of the car being totaled. Mine didn't not incur that much damage, yet it was still totaled. This is probably the best for you (or whoever owns the car) in the long run as the depreciated value is not worth the hassle. You can find a similar crossfire for a very reasonable price. I would in fact push for it to be totaled by the insurance company.

When mine was totaled the insurance company gave me $17,000ish for the vehicle (2007 Black Base Coupe w/ 11k miles)
