Default Crossfire Appraisals for Insurance Riders - Canada

To protect yourself from under value due to total loss as a result of theft or accident, has anyone had their car appraised by and independant appraiser for inclusion of a #19A rider on their policy. I feel our cars are extremely rare (especially in Canada) and will be hard to replace. However, my insurer may not feel the same way. My wife has a friend in the insurance business that says I should have this done and has stated that my car is valued at $42K on the Red book?
When I called my insurer they said that they may not allow a #19A inclusion because the car is only 5 years old, not a classic, and not modified with receipts. Anyone in Canada dealt with this already?
