Yes, the SRT-6 was only made in 2005, although I believe there are a few 2006 models that were special ordered. Don't believe everything the magazines say about the SRT-6. Mostly they seem to hate the stiff suspension setup and the interior. The ride is definitely rougher than a Limited, but it's not as bad as the articles make it out to be.
I just bought my SRT-6 roadster on Saturday. I wanted one with low mileage being sold by an original owner and located within reasonable driving distance of where I live. It took over a year until the right one came along, but it did happen. I hauled it 600 miles home on my flatbed trailer behind my Dodge Ram Cummins, and other than having to load it in a rainstorm the trip was great.
The power of the SRT-6 was well worth the wait and extra $$ in my opinion. We looked at some newer Limited roadsters, but in the end we really wanted more power than the Limited offered. We plan on keeping this car forever, so we didn't want to compromise.
