Tires mean everything and must be matched to your driving conditions. The F1's were over $1000 from Mr. Tire.
The guy who bought my Suminotos said he only drove his Crossfire in the summer and was thrilled at the price.
I bought a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S and I must say that they do handle exceptionally well in the rain - so far as to say I would purposely hit the puddle to see if I would hydroplane (I never did..). They worked pretty well in the snow as well.
They were over $1,000 for 4 tires and only lasted me ~18k miles (I had a little fun here and there but nothing outrageous) before they became so loud I couldn't even hear the radio at full blast. (Exaggerating to an extent, but they were the absolute loudest tires I have ever heard in my life, it was like driving a truck)
