Absolutely. Instead of just updating the old OS (XP to Vista) with new bells and whistles creating an even more bloated OS, they completely revamped the entire OS and created a much more lean OS. My three year old laptop (XPS M1210) had finally begun to have the times catch up with it and began to slow down. I reformatted and put Win7 full install on it, and it is back to running like a champ.

NOTE: I did already have 3gb of RAM which probably helped the process along. Though I will probably upgrade to 4gb of RAM soon.
