When running the hose going from the radiator to the engine aught to be hot dam hot and tight with pressure. You should see the fan running at idle at that time. If the fan or thermostat are gonezo that would account for the problem. Your air bleed issues with the motor are not a concern at this late date. Let me know WOODY
