Tank will not be pressurized this way, just a place to hold ice. The coil will give me more volume, and should have some cooling as the hot water passes thru the tank....waste of time or not????
It's a good idea and the big players with the E55's have added this same setup in the trunk with a custom aluminum tank that has a separate compartment for the ice. They even have a drain installed underneath the trunk to empty the water from the ice out after each run. Moparrbust has this mod in the trunk. I'm sure he posted pics of it. Same idea as yours, but they basically have a larger intercooler in the middle of the aluminum tank. Custom and not cheap but very effective. Even have a 2nd pump installed. Search mbworld for Chiromikey. If there are pics it has to be from a couple of years back. The company he uses for all his custom work, even headers is Floored Fabrication here in AZ. Good luck. I personally don't use any cooling mods. Haven't needed them yet.
