I have heard stories of troopers pulling people over on the turnpike and making them either take the tint off there, or having their cars towed. It all depends on who wants to read the law to the letter.

Luckily they took window tint out of the inspection process. Its not fun being on the receiving end of a trooper coming to see you because of an inspection issue.
I think it's more about interpreting shades of gray versus a black or white, legal or illegal type of thing. The guy who inspects my car never said a word about the tail light tinting. The tinting on the lights is so minor when you see it in person, I just have very little doubt that it would ever be a problem.

***now watch as I proceed to get a ticket on my way home this evening!***
