I recently received my (gently used) airbox from Skyshadow (thanks again for the deal! Arrived in great shape).
It also came with TVT intake tubes, but I had to buy some fresh rubber to get everything connected. I went with 3" fuel line hose (similar to Needswings tubing) and had it trimmed to roughly a foot or so in length... Silicon couplings will be used closer to the engine, right where the pipes mate up to the airbox.
The box itself was in great shape structurally, and came with fairly new K&N filters in place. Since I was going to have to address a bare-spot in the silver where the previous hood-liner had rubbed through, I figured, why not paint the whole intake?
Props to Steve for the suggestion... I was originally going to accent the airbox with red (Brabus style) but he convinced me that "body color" would be pretty slick as well.
So, after a TON of time carefully masking different sections off for three different colors of paint, it's completed. White was finished yesterday, then silver and black were completed today. I used Valspar high-gloss (formulated for plastic) and Duplicolor "Reflex silver" for the center Benz strip.
Also, I shot the intake tubes white.
I'll install within the next day or so... just giving the paint time to FULLY cure, even though it's dry to the touch.
