Default Rant on Honda lawn mowers

I had a Honda 214SX for nearly 25 years and I replaced it when the deck rusted out. Big mistake. I replaced it with a Honda HRR2166VKC which has Smart Drive. You engage the "Smart Drive" with your thumbs and hold it down. Varying the amount you press the paddle alters the speed forward.

"Smart Drive" should be called "Dumb Drive" as it is totally useless.
The two speeds on the old machine was far far superior, I have touted Honda lawn mowers as a good buy, they may be OK but the variable speed drive is useless and hard to control as well as making your thumbs sore.

The machine is hard to control as it either seems to lack speed or leaps forward like a greyhound.
If you are thinking of buying a Honda mower with "Smart Drive", don't.

As you can see I think the "Smart Drive" is rubbish, two thumbs down literally.

I am going to fix the old mower, patch up the rust hole and dump the new mower. The old mower and engine ran faultlessly for all those years, one spark plug and oil changes which are a lot cheaper than the crossfire.
