Default BAS/ESP Light

I have a question that I dont know if anyone will be able to answer and unfortunately I do not have the hardware to check. At times under hard acceleration (and spinning the tires with traction control off) my BAS/ESP light will come and and stay on. I know those lights come on to tell me the car is in a temporary limp mode until the engine is restarted. My question is, What does the computer do to put the car in limp mode? I know it turns the supercharged clutch off and the car gets pissed off when it sees positive pressure when it thinks the supercharged is disengaged....but I want to know what it does to the ignition timing. If anyone has an answer that would be great! Im sure if I had a DashDAQ or StarDAS i would be able to read the timing advance but I dont.
Thanks in advance,
Bryan Tracy
