I guess I should not take it too bad...both these V8s are 500hp +++

Thought I would bump this thread instead of creating a new one. Went for coffee this Saturday with the boys and had the chance to make a few runs. First was with a buddy of mine with a CTSV stroker, we ran before the stoker engine swap and my car was in the W mode and before the dyno tune when Jerry wiped out all the adaptation my ECU had stored and picked up 20+ HP. He lost before the new motor….and after…he was not happy. This is not the same 2009 Caddy that beat me, but non the less a potent car. His first words after the run was “What did you do to that car”??

Then he wanted to run my buddies C63 with an intake and Renntech tune. The C63 walked away from the caddy as I had predicted but the owner of the caddy felt I walked away faster than the C63. I have ran the C63 before, and it was not pretty. We decided to make a few runs and was surprise at the result. Now the C63 won…but not by much. From a 30mph run, I would jump out in front and he would real me back in at 120+. At a 45mph run with me in 2nd…he would just take off and I could not catch up. He would put 1 or 2 car lengths and it would stay that way.

The moral of the story is after time, the ECU starts storing info that actually makes the car slower. Having the ECU retuned every couple years may be a good thing!
