Re: Seat Removal?
Since the air bag systems started they have always suggested removing the neg cable on the battery before ( servicing any component of the air bag system ) as a precationary messure. I have been in dealers for over 27 years and have never seen any accidents as of yet, nor have I had any, but for those of us who have not had the experience with these systems it would be a good idea just for safety reasons, I will admit I have heard stories about them going off while checking out the system, and even GM states never set the Tech 2 up on the steering wheel cause if the air bag goes off you will be wearing the Tech 2, but I also think that it was a technician error when this happened, but when removing a seat, steering wheel, or a sensor, as long as the key is out of the ignition switch and off, there should never be a problem from just unpluging and pluging in, the part in question.
