A little side story - a few years back I had an '86 911, bought it in '95 so it was a few years old when I got it. Was at Sebring for my first-ever track day in my bone-stock car and the guy in the next stall over had heavily modified 911 - roll cage, slicks, much of the interior gutted to reduce weight, etc. I was very impressed and thought he would smoke all of us in our beginners' group. That is, until I wound up passing him *twice* in our first go round. It was funny listening to his instructor after each session counseling him on how to go fast and he just didn't get it. Apparently he purchased the car and thought he could just dominate the track because, afterall, it sure looks easy on TV!
