If I remember correctly, some of the auto mfg actually recommend only 3 brands, Mobi/Exxon, Shell and Chevron/Texaco. It has to do with additives, detergents and other secret ingredients. Could be just a bunch of hype, but I stick with those. Never had a fuel problem over the years.

I look it as the same thing with Mobil 1 synthetic oil. Most of us follow that recommendation as well.
