Default Re: So, I bought me an SRT6 today - sort of

Hey, I was not trying to knock you at all and I hope that you know this to be true. I now sell cars on the side since I have sold my shop, and in TN you have only "hours" to get out of a deal. How did Lincoln get it to Chrysler---drive it? Did it overheat then too? If they towed it great, but now you have ANOTHER question. You seem to be a nice guy, but you "assume" a lot. The customer on YOUR car is Lincoln, not you since they are paying the bill.

Here is what you KNOW without assuming anything: 1) the car overheats before it can get home. 2) the dealer did not check it out when they bought it, nor during the time that they had it for sale---how many test drives did it overheat on? 3) AND the most important---no one knows how many times has this happened? These are facts that you know!

A USED motor is over $3000 PLUS install another $2000 to $3000!!! Why take the chance? It is not the only SRT 6 out there. You will never know how many time that this has happened and you know that you can not get PROFESSIONAL advice from Lincoln---they sold you a car that would not even make it home---one they can not even check out. They are just there to sell the car. Maybe good guys, but they dropped the ball on this one for sure.

AGAIN, from someone who IS third party like you said Chrysler would be the only difference is I am telling you something that you do not want to hear!!! Not only am I third party, but I have experience in repairing them, as well as, selling them, and I am screaming---kill this deal.

I am sure that it will be an easy fix---my first guess is the fan for a couple of reasons. But after THEY fix that you still have a lot of questions for no reason. Why take the chance? That's my point. Every sensor that is on the block and head had been put to EXTRA heat, and crank and cam are known to be weak, every seal, and the list goes on and on. More questions!

I use this forum for help and advice, and you are right that there are some nice people on here. I would like to think that I am one of them. I do not know you, the dealer, or the car, BUT what I do know about this problem--I do not like at all. There are some smart guys on here, and I'm sure all wish you the best whatever you do; I know I do, but not many, if any, would take an AMG high dollar to repair car from a dealer with an unknown overheating history even after the dealer fixed it knowing what they know about the POSSIBLE cost of repairs. That's my point. Good luck on whatever you do---Jimmy
