Ah, a bit of confusion on my part perhaps.

The weight savings I mentioned was what was done overall to this car versus the standard issue R8 5.2. Some of the power gains were accomplished via the valve train changes, ECU programming etc. Nonetheless, this GT makes 35HP more than the standard R8 5.2 and weighs 220lbs less. That's really what the press release here is all about - how different this car is from the standard V10 version of the R8.
