Did you already have the diff out and apart for them? Maybe that is the difference? I could see them charging 6-hrs to remove diff, machine the carrier to fit the PG, and reinstall everything...
If I remember the shop removed the unit, sent it to PG, and then reinstalled. I believe that PG put everything together and the shop just had to pop it back in.
